Restoration of and extensions to a ruined Victorian Gothic Castle to form a 5 star 100 bedroom hotel with conference, leisure and sports facilities.Within the former castle walls are reception rooms, bars and a presidential suite. A new conference and restaurant wing is built to one side; on the other side new bedroom wings form garden squares. These open out to the former walled kitchen garden. In this space the former ruined glasshouses have been replaced by a new spa and health centre placed within the former footplate. Modern in design, the building has references to the old glasshouses.

Named the world’s top country hotel at the WORLD LUXURY HOTEL AWARDS in 2009.
